Nursing Malpractice, Third Edition

Barbara Levin, BSN RN ONC LNCC
Copyright 2007

Attorneys, Legal Nurse Consultants, medical professionals practicing in the clinical setting - you don’t want to be without it. Nursing Malpractice is an indispensible component to your medical/legal library; if you do not have it, grab your copy today. Your success is banking on it.

Patricia W. Iyer MSN, RN, LNCC and Barbara J. Levin BSN, RN, ONC, LNCC have out done themselves again with the third edition of Nursing Malpractice. Both well-known and well-respected Legal Nurse Consultants, they certainly flaunt their knowledge and experience with this one. One glance at the Contributors’ list alone and you know you have your hands on an invaluable, comprehensive tool. It is rare to find the mix of expertise as seen here – MD/JDs, JDs, RNs
from all spectrums, LNCs, PhDs, a Pharmacist . . . . . need I go on! With forty five chapters devoted to a broad spectrum of extensive issues which have been defined in parts as follows: Patient Safety, Nursing Practice, Common Areas of Nursing Liability, Advanced Roles (in nursing), Causes of Action, Damages, and Litigation of Nursing Malpractice Claims, it would be impossible, even from first glance, to deny what you have your hands on. Whether a seasoned litigator, a practicing LNC, or a novice just starting out, you will gain essential information every time you pick up the book and turn a page. The format is so methodical, well-organized and systematic, you will never waste time finding exactly what you need.

In addition to their fabulous work in compilation and editing, Ms. Iyer and Ms. Levin contribute their own expertise throughout the book with authored chapters including topics such as: Pain and Suffering; The Roots of Patient Injury; Medical Errors: Roots of Litigation; Orthopaedics; Working with Legal Nurse Consultants . . . . I have barely touched on the vast subject matter included in this phenomenal, comprehensive masterpiece. As a Legal Nurse Consultant myself with nine years of in-depth experience working as both consultant and expert with both plaintiff and defense attorneys, I must say that this book stands out as one of the most valuable resources I have ever used. Bravo Ladies!
